DESCRIPTION:In person at Rigpa Sydney and Online. \nAn Open Heart presents key Buddhist teachings on the powerful logic of compassion and practical methods for developing a more kind relationship with ourselves\, and systematically leading us to develop and extend our love for others and ultimately for all beings. When our heart and mind are filled with love\, we may find the greatest inner healing\, tranquillity and well-being. \nOur innate capacity for empathy is the source of the very best of human qualities: love\, kindness\, generosity\, warm-heartedness\, courage … compassion. DESCRIPTION:In the Mirror of Death\nAn introduction to the Tibetan Buddhist understanding of death and dying \nThis course offers an introduction to the practical wisdom and sacred inspiration that can be drawn from the Tibetan Buddhist understanding of death and dying. \nBased on the ground-breaking The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying and presenting video teachings by Sogyal Rinpoche\, the course gives guidance on meditation and the practice of Essential Phowa\, a practice for healing and for the moment of death. The course also addresses how we may best accompany someone nearing death and help a dying person to meet death reassured by loving support and care\, with peace of mind and even with confidence. \nThroughout the course you will be encouraged to deepen your understanding and your personal engagement with these topics through guided contemplations. There will be ample time for questions and discussion. \nThe course covers these key points: \n\nunderstanding impermanence and death\, and the heart advice for the moment of death\nguidance on how to contemplate\nan understanding of mind and how to work with it\ncalm abiding meditation\nemotional and practical preparation for death\ncaring for a dying person\nguidance on the practice of Essential Phowa\n\nWho is this course for?        \nThe course anyone who wishes to learn more about death and dying from the Tibetan Buddhist perspective — whether you are new to meditation or Buddhism\, an established student of Tibetan Buddhism\, or come from another Buddhist tradition.
