SUMMARY:The Wisdom of Compassion: Inner Healing and Spiritual Strength | Melbourne\, Sydney and Online
DESCRIPTION:The Wisdom of Compassion presents key Buddhist teachings on the powerful logic of compassion and practical methods for developing a more kind relationship with ourselves\, those around us and ultimately all beings.  \nOur innate capacity for empathy is the source of the very best of human qualities: love\, kindness\, generosity\, warm-heartedness\, courage … compassion. Although we are born with a vast capacity to love\, we may not know how to do so unconditionally\, or how to express that love in practice. \nWhen our heart and mind are filled with love\, we find the greatest inner healing\, tranquillity and well-being. Modern research shows that with empathy and compassion we can be more fully ourselves\, connect more easily with others\, improve self worth and reduce self-criticism\, and lead healthier lives. \nParticipants in this course will learn how to: \n\ndevelop loving kindness for themselves\nextend that loving kindness to all beings\nmove along the path from compassion to fully enlightened courage\n\nLed by Western meditation instructors with many years of experience\, each session consists of: \n\nVideo teachings from Tibetan and Western Buddhist masters including Sogyal Rinpoche\, Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche\, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche\, Mingyur Rinpoche\, Pema Chödrön and Sharon Salzberg.\nMeditation practice\nTime for contemplation\nGroup discussions and Q&A\, offering each student the opportunity to explore the teachings and practices in an open supportive environment and to connect with a community of practitioners.

SUMMARY:Our Inner Freedom - Looking Within | Melbourne\, Sydney and Online
DESCRIPTION:The Buddha’s life and teachings show that we all encounter change and loss. Our lives are changing all the time\, often in small ways\, but sometimes impermanence turns our whole world upside down. If we can take the message of impermanence and death to heart fully we can discover the deathless nature of mind that is the doorway to genuine and lasting freedom. \nThe Buddha’s life and teachings show that we all encounter change and loss. Our lives are changing all the time\, often in small ways\, but sometimes impermanence turns our whole world upside down. Sometimes\, the experience of such a powerful reminder of impermanence can be frightening; and we feel an urgent need to question and challenge our life’s priorities. The deeper implications of impermanence—that everything is interdependent and selfless—can help us to let go of grasping and fixating on our circumstances as solid and real. As we deepen our reflection\, we may well emerge from self-destructive habits that may be causing us to be unhappy or dissatisfied. If we can take the message of impermanence and death to heart fully we can discover the deathless nature of mind that is the doorway to genuine and lasting freedom. \nThis year-long course consists of three modules. The first will present a series of contemplations and meditations on impermanence\, death\, selflessness and emptiness. This can assist us to move beyond the clutches of fear and discover a new meaning\, a new inspiration\, and a new joy in our lives. The second\, looks at how the Buddha’s own life embodies the deep truths he taught. And the third\, takes a deep dive into the elements of the Buddha’s teaching that distinguish Buddhism from all other religious and philosophical approaches. \nLed by Western meditation instructors with many years of experience\, each session consists of: \n\nVideo teachings from Tibetan and Western Buddhist masters including Patrick Gaffney\, Sogyal Rinpoche\, Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche\, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche\, Mingyur Rinpoche and Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.\nMeditation practice\nTime for contemplation\nGroup discussions and Q&A\, offering each student the opportunity to explore the teachings and practices in an open supportive environment.\n\nDetails \nWhere: \n\nOnline\nRigpa Melbourne\, 803 Nicholson St\, Carlton North\nRigpa Sydney\, 158 Australia St\, Newtown.\n\nWhen: Thursday evenings\, starting 8 February\nTen weeks\, with a break during Easter. \nTime: 7.00pm – 9.00pm Australian Eastern Time\n(9.00am Central European Time; 3.00am US East Coast Time) \nThis course is for established students.
